Premier Props Tricorders and Proton Collector

I had a good visit yesterday with Dav Levin from Premier Props.  I got to see the 3 key props that I thought were the ones most likely to be questionable.  Two Hero Tricorders and the Proton Collector.

TRICORDERS

There are three Tricorders in the auction.

Mk IX Static Tricorder  (Which I will not cover)

Mk X Tricorder

TR-890 Relativity Tricorder

Now the problem with the two Hero Light-Up Tricorders is that unless you bust open the back and take photos of the insides, you can't tell if these are production-made, or are the ones made for Star Trek: The Experience.

So you will have to open the back and photograph the boards and send them to Brett Jones who is the expert I always use.  He can tell you if these Tricorders are production made or for The Experience.

The lights on top do not work on this.  As most know, this was based on a travel clock, and comes with a vacu-formed holster.

I have no opinion on the authenticity of this prop, but have emailed Richard Coyle the prop maker.  This is NOT the one that sold in profiles a few years ago.

Premier Props Data Head Photos

Well today I went to Premier Props and got to see 5 of the items that are of interest to folks.  Dan Levin and his assistant Dawn were most accommodating and showed me each item and allowed me to take photos.

The Data head is obviously the item collectors are most interested in, so here are the detailed photos I took.

Premier Props Revises Data Head Listing

Premiere Props has actually revised the listing of their Data Head listing.  Kudos to them for doing so.

The new listing:

Data's screen used severed head. "Star Trek: The Next Generation" had many remarkable episodes, but perhaps one of the most memorable and unusual was "Phantasms" in which Brent Spiner as "Data" is mysteriously inflicted with nightmares, something androids should be immune to by design. This is Data's hero screen used head from the opening scenes of the film, wherein he interrupts a group of very anachronistic pick-axe miners hacking away at the ship's warp-drive, only to have his arms and head removed forcibly by them in retaliation. Beautifully crafted from "Data colored" foam latex, with faux-hair, eyelashes, and very realistic plastic eyes, with "Data colored" irises. The severed neck exposes his instruments, circuits and tubing. Crew members and independent collectors have verified the authenticity of this item. Comes with a COA from Premiere Props. Head is approx. 12"x 10"x 8".

Just goes to show you how being proactive can have a result.

Premier Prop's Data's Head

In the upcoming Premier Props Auction, there is a Data Head, supposedly from Time's Arrow.  

Now there is always lively conversations on the Star Trek Prop, Costume & Auction Forum whenever something isn't right with an item at auction.  And in this case Angelo Cifaldi was the one who did the screen capping and brought up that something didn't look right.  He produced this screen cap comparison with the offered item.

Now Angelo notes that something looks off about the left side of the head, and the electronics change from photo to photo.  Others noted that there is something off about the left side of the mouth.  And the head isn't weathered as in the screen caps.

Then Kent Karemaker posted this photo from "Phantasms", and the general agreement is that this head seems to match.  

I will be going to Premier Props to inspect everything, and will get more detailed photos and info next week.
